Proposals for e-learning
What information do you need to give me a proposal?
Ideally, we'd like a comprehensive document outlining your organisational drivers, scope, learning objectives, content, budget and technical requirements. In reality, we often work from a ‘post it' note, so don't worry if you haven't thought it all through! We're happy to help you formulate your ideas.
Does Epic only work with certain organisations or on specific size projects?
Not at all. We work with a wide range of organisations, large and small, public and private. Assignments range from a single day's consultancy to £1 million plus projects.
How quickly can you start a project?
We can normally start immediately. We have the largest resource base in the UK and, if required, can re-direct resources from internal R&D initiatives to gear up production.
Are you willing to work with other suppliers to deliver a solution?
Absolutely! We have worked on numerous projects involving co-development with other suppliers, in some cases leading to coveted industry awards.
Pricing of e-learning solutions
How much will my e-learning cost?
To ‘ring-fence' your budget and prevent surprises, we always work to a fixed price, based on a jointly agreed scope and approach. The price depends on the size of the project and:
• Type of media used - video, simulations and animations are more expensive
• Complexity of content, for example branching techniques and complicated functionality add to development costs
• Technical issues/constraints
How quickly can you give me a price?
Immediately! Just call us and one of our Account Managers will be happy to discuss your requirement. We can provide an indication of costs following a short conversation and subsequently provide a formal, fixed price.
We're still not sure of our precise requirement - does that matter?
No - the scope of an e-learning project is rarely 100% clear at first. We'll work with you during pre-sale and project initiation stages to jointly agree the final scope.
E-learning technology
What technology do you use?
We aren't wedded to any particular software - we use technology most appropriate for the client's technical infrastructure, typically DHTML or Flash. We are also happy to work with clients' preferred tools, such as Adobe Connect, Lectora and Articulate.
Can the e-learning be updated easily?
Definitely! We will supply our easy-to-use ‘Refresh' maintenance tool to enable you to update the material without having to re-engage us every time you want a change.
Do your solutions cater for the visually impaired?
This is a key strength of ours. We have worked extensively with the RNIB to ensure our projects meet and exceed the highest levels of accessibility standards. We guarantee a leading-edge approach to accessibility.
Our approach
How long does it take to develop a piece of e-learning?
There's no easy answer! It depends on the scope of the requirement and its complexity. We can deliver in as little as 3-4 weeks, but in practice most projects take 2-3 months.
I'm new to e-learning - what can I expect for my first project?
We've helped many clients with their first e-learning project, so we know the key pressure points and concerns you're likely to have. Expect an exciting and highly rewarding experience, with lots of hard work!
Where does the work take place?
To minimise disruption to you, most work typically takes place at Epic, although at key stages it may be valuable for us to work alongside your team, perhaps at your premises. We'll explore these issues with you during project setup.
Where are your staff based?
All our staff are based in Brighton. We do not offshore any aspect of our operation and on the rare occasions where we subcontract work, it's only to our ISO 9001:2008 approved suppliers, with whom we have established long-term relationships.
Who writes the content?
We do - that's what you pay us for! Unless specifically agreed otherwise, it's our job to take your source materials - documents, PowerPoints, supporting guidance, workbooks, handouts etc - and turn it into e-learning.
