Big e-learning ideas from the Big Apple
Busy with ‘the day to day’ (in my case, consulting, researching, writing, etc) it can be all too easy to forget to venture outside for lunch, let alone for inspiration! Therefore, it is great to attend a conference every once in a while and get the time and space to think and reflect. And currently, as a delegate at New York’s International Conference of e-learning in the Workplace, I am doing just that!
This conference is proving to be the perfect mix of what Dr Allison Rossett, Professor of Educational Technology at San Diego State University, referred to in her keynote speech as ‘stuff’ and ‘stir’: the stuff is the knowledge, the data, and the case studies, while the stir comes about by the questioning, the discussion and the exchanging of insights. For me, all this amounts to confirmation of our forward-thinking plans for learning technologies at Epic, with a few new and exciting ideas thrown in!
But given I’m blogging directly from the conference, and given New York is allegedly the most filmed City in the World, it seems only appropriate to ditch my keyboard in favour of a camera! So take a look at my vodcast (video report), below, direct from the heart of Times Square, and learn more about the themes and perspectives emerging from this year’s conference.
