Act and Epic to bring e-learning to corporate treasurers.

PRESS RELEASE
Issued: June 8, 2001

The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) has chosen Epic, Europe's leading e-learning specialists, to develop a web-based version of its highly regarded qualification, the Certificate in International Cash Management.

The ACT has recognised the benefits that e-learning can bring to its students. In particular the ACT wishes to meet the growing international demand for its qualifications. In doing so, it is building upon a trend amongst business schools world-wide and other professional organisations in launching web-based courses.

Richard Raeburn, Head of Education at the ACT said, "This is a vital step for the Association. Our students will be engaged and challenged by new forms of learning. It is imperative that we capture best practice and thereby maintain the Association's position as best in class provider of treasury education."

The online learning environment will provide students with access to fully searchable reference material (currently only available in paper form), interactive exercises and self-assessment tests. Also available will be a tutor moderated discussion forum and a test submission facility.

Lars Hyland, Key Accounts Director at Epic said, "Professional organisations such as the ACT have much to gain from harnessing the power of e-learning. There is unprecedented demand world-wide for quality vocational learning that is up to date, relevant and practical. Making it available online with additional interactive tools will attract a wider audience."

The web-based Certificate in International Cash Management has been funded with the support of The Royal Bank of Scotland and HSBC.

David Jessop, Managing Director, Payments, Trade & Banking Services at The Royal Bank of Scotland said, "the Royal Bank has been delighted to contribute funds for the e-delivery initiative. I believe the interactive tools will greatly enhance the distance learning experience for students."

Richard Bottomley, Regional Manager - Europe, Global Payments and Cash Management at HSBC said, "The ACT's Certificate in Cash Management should be considered an essential qualification for those who need to understand fully the workings of corporate treasury and its interaction with the banking community. It is for this reason our own staff use this training and why HSBC is pleased to help fund the e-delivery of the Cert CM programme."
