Lloyds banks on Epic expertise
PRESS RELEASE
Issued: February 23, 2001
Epic, the UK's leading e-learning company, has further strengthened
its hold on the financial services sector, after securing
a major initiative from Lloyds TSB.
The e-learning project - the first of its kind put to tender
by the bank -involves taking existing face-to-face courses
and designing an alternative 'blended' solution, where e-learning
plays a significant role.
Epic's Account Director for Lloyds TSB, Andrea Miles, commented:
"This is an extremely exciting initiative for Epic.
"We are taking a range of courses and applying Epic's 'learning
object methodology' to them. This means that, as we have a
number of courses to work with at one time, we can apply a
design, which will reduce duplication of effort and ensure
consistency in our approach. The ultimate objective is for
us to ensure Lloyds TSB can maximise the overall cost effectiveness
of their training provision by pinpointing elements of the
face-to-face courses that can be delivered effectively online."
The courses that are being converted include the learning
of soft skills, management, selling skills, induction and
product knowledge.
Lloyds TSB's Group HR Business Director, Paul Turner, confirmed:
"This is a large project for the bank, part of a significant
initiative to e-enable our HR function. We wanted a partner
that could not only demonstrate expertise in e-learning, but
also had the capability in terms of resources and quality
systems to support an initiative of this scale.
"Epic's response to our brief provided a creative approach
to treatment of content, as well as showed an understanding
of return on investment and dealing with cultural change in
implementing new learning strategies - all very important
to this project."
