Epic boosts Channel 4 learning initiative
Epic, the UK's leading e-learning company, has been appointed by
4Learning, the educational arm of Channel 4, to design, develop
and deliver a major new learning website for young creative people.
IdeasFactory is designed to nurture young creative
talent. The website will be a source of learning and inspirational
support for those wishing to enter the creative industries
and help further the professional development of those already
in creative jobs.
The creative industries are a critical sector of the new
economy, worth over £60bn per annum. Over 60% of graduates
want to work in the creative industries and currently over
1.2m people are employed in the sector. These people are often
working as freelancers or in so-called 'micro-businesses'.
Targeted at 14-34 year olds, IdeasFactory will achieve its
goals through a combination of streaming video, articles,
games and database resources. Users will be offered a series
of creative zones that provide information on different areas
of the creative industries. It will be launched by Channel
4 later this autumn.
Heather Rabbatts, Head of 4Learning, said: 'Channel
4 is a leading investor in creative business growth, and we
aim to be a catalyst for the next generation of creative talent.
We were impressed with Epic's proven approach to integrating
learning online and we look forward to the launch of IdeasFactory
later this year'.
On behalf of Epic, Steve Rayson said: 'We are really pleased
to be working with Channel 4 on this exciting and innovative project.
The new website will be a benchmark in the design and integration
of learning, creativity and business development'.
