Video raises curtain for NHS
The National Health Service University is using an interactive
induction and learning programme featuring 30 minutes of video drama.
The narrative follows the lead character from when he has a stroke
in a busy shopping centre through the stages of his treatment and
recovery. The content introduces many roles in NHS, including paramedics,
a chef, a social worker and a consultant, but also features real
interviews, with key NHS figures, including Nigel Crisp, the chief
executive.
The video is delivered within a PowerPoint based e-learning platform
created by Epic Epic contracted Nice Media to film the video content,
which Nice shot on high-end DVCam and delivered as compressed MPEG-1
files.
Kat Rolley, learning programmes manager for NHSU Learning Programmes
Directorate says: ‘This was a challenging project produced
to very tight timescales. Having worked with Nice Media before I
was confident that they could produce what we needed and everyone
at NHSU has been delighted by the result. The story is a sophisticated
and engaging piece of video drama and even people who have seen
it several times are still moved by it.’
