All About U
The following piece first appeared in the UNIAID newsletter
and was written by John Harris, Director of Education, Epic Group
plc.
Your future, your money, your problem! All About U is an interactive,
online, database driven, learning tool for all 16-19 year-olds who
may consider higher education. It will put young people in the driving
seat, showing them how to define and navigate a path into and through
university life.
UNIAID is delighted to be working with the leading e-learning company,
Epic plc who bring deep technical expertise to the project. All
About U is on track to be launched in Spring 2005.
Epic delighted to be working with a great team (UNIAID) tackling
something so worthwhile (student debt) with such an innovative concept
(All About U). We enjoy getting the chance to develop simulations.
People learn by doing, so how better to teach a potential student
about debt than by letting them experience it? Of the simulations
we have developed to date, this is possibly the most demanding.
Why? Because this 16 to 19 year old digital expert knows what it
likes, knows what it dislikes, doesn’t know what it wants,
but knows it wants something! Through focus groups we have discovered
they are thirsty for knowledge about the financial implications
of attending uni. We will be working with viral marketers to generate
a demand for All About U and with seriously good comedy writers
to ensure that every interaction is fun and engaging. The design
of All About U has certainly stretched us but we are proud of what
we have achieved to date – reinforced by positive feedback
on designs from focus groups. And our hopes for the future? That
we can show off All About U as genuinely innovative e-learning and
demonstrate that it has really made a difference.
