What were the hot topics at CIPD this year?

Age Legislation was a hot topic at the show this year. It was good to see so many people around the stand finding out what the legislation is really going to mean for their business.

There was also a strong focus on Leadership. Delegates were told "There will be no HR directors in the 21st century, only leadership directors – and that's you" by David Taylor, an acclaimed author on leadership. Taylor feels that HR is at a turning point. He has compiled a list of business leaders' most important issues, based on interviews with 67 chief executives. Understanding this list of "what keeps CEOs awake at night" would allow HR to take its place at the strategy table, he said. "Your time has come – and it is now."

Rob Goffee and Gareth Jones – authors of ‘Why should anyone be led by you’ did a keynote double-header slot at the speaking conference which went down a storm.
