PG Certificate in e-learning
officially up and running
On 12th July the universities of Sussex and Brighton
met to validate the Post Graduate Certificate in E-Learning Design,
which is being jointly delivered by the two universities. Keith
Landsborough, Director of Content Production at Epic, represented
the local e-learning industry on the panel, which also included
Dr Martin Oliver, Senior Lecturer in ICT in Education from the Institute
of Education as the external member of the panel.
There are five modules to the course: Learning, Project Process,
Design and Content
Development, Technology for Designers, and a practical project,
to ensure academic knowledge is applied in the workplace.
"This course is great news for everyone involved,”
said Keith following the event. “For Epic and other Brighton
e-learning Alliance (BeLA) members the PG Certificate in
e-learning Design is a fantastic realisation. The Universities
of Sussex and Brighton have responded to our needs for a course
that truly reinforces Brighton & Hove as the European centre
of excellence for the e-learning industry."
E-learning is constantly evolving with new research leading to
new instructional models and treatments, enhanced by new and emergent
technologies. E-learning practice does not remain static, and by
building close links with our local internationally renowned Universities
Epic will seek to make the most of new opportunities.”
Epic currently has two of its junior designers on the pilot course,
Emily Berry and Rebecca Baggalley, and from Autumn 2006 the course
will be open to new students.
