Inside Epic
What we've all been up to...
e-learning
July and August have been good months with projects getting underway
in several of our sectors. Product knowledge e-learning development
remains strong in the banking and financial services sector, pharmaceuticals
and telecommunications
Localisation for our global customers remains key with further development
for both the Chinese market and the Canadian market.
"Blend" continues to be high on the agenda for our clients
at the MOD
Consulting
During August, the Consulting team have not been totally on vacation.
Whilst several assignments reached their conclusion, we took the
opportunity to review and reflect on our approach to addressing
learning strategy. Learning is a critical enabler for achieving
business plans and often-significant change, and today's strategies
have to be totally aligned, flexible and effective. We have refined
our approach to take account of some or our real-life findings about
how learning strategies are developed, integrated and applied.
Epicentre
Epicentre have been helping their external clients in educational
publishing gear up for the new school term by ensuring all their
latest electronic products are fully functional and ascetically
pleasing, whilst refining their internal QA processes and assisting
Epic to deliver consistently high-quality products.
Epicentre are also getting excited about their new Epicentre website,
going online later this month, which will include all their latest
offerings and services as well as providing visitors with information
on emerging technologies and market changes. More on this next month.
Web
It's been a busy month in the Web Division. A particular highlight
has been the re-launch of the new, improved TQi site (www.tqi.ac.uk),
which gives access to up-to-date information about the quality of
higher education in UK universities and colleges. This was accompanied
by a big press launch on 23rd Aug and I am delighted to say that
it has all gone very smoothly due to the sterling efforts of the
team (Dorian, Pete, John, Emma, Aidan and Owen to name a few names).
There has also been a significant focus on internal projects over
the last few months in getting the You Lead and Epic Professional
portals ready to support our product launches. And I'm sure everyone
will be pleased to hear that we are now working on redesigning the
Epic and Epicentre websites. Look out for the new Epicentre website
early September, with the Epic one to follow a few months later.
We are also using these internal projects as an opportunity to do
a bit of R&D into Open Source content management systems, to
enable us to expand our offering.
We have also been active on the recruitment front and have a new
project manager, Warren Midgely, starting next week. Viviana will
be moving over from Epicentre to join us a Junior Designer in the
next couple of week and we also say goodbye to Carl Heaton next
month, but welcome his replacement, Jody White. Finally, it's great
to have Jessica Jebari back over the next few months to help us
out on the project management front.
Professional
August has seen the completion and launch of the Age Awareness
product. Epic professional now has 3 key products with a 4th - Leadership
and Management due for completion within the next 2-3 weeks. All
of the products have a full demo site which have received alot of
interest with around 400 different organisations looking at our
products at present. We are now about to start looking into the
next product so if you have any ideas about products, which could
benefit your business, please send them to newproductidea@epic.co.uk
