Epic Think Tank
Corporate Universities and e-learning
Introduction
Held
under 'Chatham House' rules, Think Tank debates are frank, outspoken
and relentlessly real-world. Sacred cows have a low life expectancy
in this atmosphere. Modish cant, trendy buzzwords and smokescreens
of tech-speak likewise get short shrift from our delegates, battle-hardened
'leaders and bleeders' in e-learning. Into this bear pit we decided
to throw the concept of corporate universities.
The corporate university is a model that has see widespread adoption
in recent years, but is it just an exercise in corporate branding
- a mere re-badging of the training function? Or is this really
the future of organisational learning? We gathered together a team
of top decision makers in sectors from media to government to pick
the bones from this proposition, including delegates whose organisations
had corporate universities, and those with plans for a corporate
university under active consideration.
The discussion addressed the following three topics:
- Why corporate universities?
- The corporate university and the 'crucible of experience'
- The role of technology as an enabler of the university vision
