Going up around the blend
Blended learning is the new rock and roll. If only we knew what
it meant. To some it's a bit of this and a bit of that - pick and
mix. To others a simple mix of e-learning and the classroom. In
truth it means different things to different people.
This session, run by myself and Jane Wolfson, attempted to demystify
'blended learning'. We started by pointing out that blends were
chosen not on the grounds of good research and reason, but on whim.
Trainers had usually chosen the method before the material was even
designed.
An alternative method was put forward which outlined 60 different
components along with six criteria for choosing optimised blends.
These criteria included learners, learning, scalability, maintenance,
resources and sustainability. The aim was to get method into the
madness, Choose blends that match your needs.
