The Age Discrimination regulations 2006 come into force on 1 October
2006, after which time it may be unlawful to:
- Ask someone their age in a job interview
- Move persons over 60 off manual duties or shifts
- Exclude older members of staff from training
- Recruit and promote on the basis of age
- Ask for fiveyears experience

Age Awareness is a 60-minute tool that makes managers aware of
the key role they play in preventing age discrimination and employees
aware of how the Age Discrimination regulations 2006 affect them.
Suitable for both the public and private sectors, Epic’s
Age Awareness programme limits organisational exposure by making
managers and employees aware of the implications the regulations
have for their behaviour at work. Age Awareness highlights the different
forms of age discrimination the regulations recognise, and offers
solutions on how policies/procedures must be adopted to counter
such discrimination.
