Epic's defence account managers have significant
experience and understanding of the rapidly evolving Ministry of
Defence (MOD) e-learning strategy and projects initiated by the
Defence Training Review (DTR). This includes involvement in e-learning
content provision for the Defence E-learning Centres (DELCs) and
co-operation with strategic partners in support of the DTR Rationalisation
Programme.
An example of work undertaken for the MOD
is the Cost of Ownership programme. The MOD had no existing training
in Cost of Ownership Management other than what was passed on informally
from colleague to colleague. The organisation needed its procurement
staff to be able to understand and calculate the ongoing costs associated
with their commissioning decisions.
Epic created a visually rich programme that centred around a 'comic-strip'
style story. The narrative switched between the present day and
the year 2010, which allowed the user to understand how the procurement
decisions they make now will affect their successors. Asked to make
a succession of decisions based on case-study evidence, the user
was then presented with the consequences of what they'd decided
in the form of the 'futuristic' comic-strip.
The subject matter was highly complex, and Epic worked closely
with a procurement expert from PricewaterhouseCoopers to ensure
the accuracy of the material in the programme.
