The Royal Bank of Scotland launches new online training
Epic Group plc and The Royal Bank of Scotland have completed the
development of an £800,000 training project, delivering online
learning to all branch managers across the UK. Training will be
piped straight into the Royal Bank's branches, via its dedicated
training and communications network, to multimedia PCs, giving access
to content at any time.
The 40 hours of new learning content developed by Epic is based
around four core areas: induction, basic procedures and systems,
people management / interpersonal skills and 'achieving excellence'.
This is an enhancement to current online programmes which to date
have focussed more on technical and process training.
Alison Yeoman, Learning Consultant for the Royal Bank retail network,
said: 'We have already invested heavily in the provision of e-learning
across the retail branch network and have reaped the benefits in
terms of immediate access to training and providing flexibility
for managers. This project is an extension of our strategy to provide
best-in-class training and development to our staff. Epic, a longstanding
supplier, was a natural choice to provide the high quality of training
we require.'
The training programme adds to over 120 hours of online learning
which Epic has created for the Bank over the last year, and is designed
to be fully interactive, including work based video scenarios. Content
can be quickly updated, while the Bank's learning management system
makes it easier to report on who has done what, how well and when.
Epic is now working to enable the programme to be introduced across
the NatWest branch network as part of a new and innovative training
channel for NatWest.
The project follows the highly successful learning and development
programmes developed for Customer Service Officers and Customer
Advisers.
Clive Shepherd, Director of the Institute for IT Training, said,
'As a result of its e-learning programme, the Bank has so far demonstrated
a 700% return on its investment. This is probably the most successful
example so far of the application of e-learning to UK business.'
Lars Hyland, Epic's Key Account Director, said: 'The Royal Bank
of Scotland continue to lead from the front on their implementation
of e-learning. As a result they are reaping significant business
benefits. We are extremely proud to play such an important role
in supporting their success.'
