Epic is chosen by SAP as an e-learning content provider
Epic Group plc, one of Europe's leading e-learning
companies, has been chosen by SAP, the world's leading provider
of software solutions, to be an e-learning content provider for
SAP Education in the UK. This announcement heralds the birth of
an exciting long-term relationship and was the result of a comprehensive
nationwide sweep of e-learning companies over four months. Epic
was selected for its quality of work, strong focus on process and
impressive client base across both public and corporate sectors.
The objective is to develop some of the training SAP
provides to partners and customers, through the use of Epic's e-learning
capability. Epic will be working closely with SAP's experts and
drawing on a library of templates and approaches to create e-learning
programmes tailored to the individual requirements of organisations.
The Building Blocks project, a course in SAP
portal design for customers and partners, will be available from
this month. Jointly developed by SAP and Epic, the Building Blocks
e-Learning course has an engaging 'gaming-style' feel, which enables
the user to apply each new skill in simple exercises as they progress
through the course.
Donald Clark, CEO of Epic Group plc, said: 'E-learning is a multi-skilled
endeavour, and companies like Epic and SAP need to face the future
by working together to provide innovative solutions for clients.
We are delighted to be involved with Europe's leading software company
and look forward to facing the future together.'
Matilda Venter, e-Education at SAP (UK) Ltd, commented: 'The aim
of SAP UK Education's e-Learning initiative is to develop blended
solutions which can better meet the demand for new knowledge and
skills in an ever-changing environment. SAP has been in the Education
business for years, so we understand the challenges of keeping knowledge
and skills current. At SAP we strive to deliver a real learning
experience in an online environment. We do not believe in e-reading
but rather follow adult learning principles, which facilitate learning
through active participation in course material. Sound instructional
design was therefore a key factor during our vendor selection process.
Epic exceeded our expectations in this area and also met our other
criteria including market positioning, methodology, process and
technical expertise. Together we are creating a unique e-Learning
experience for our customers.'
