UKeU announces the addition of PRIME: Leadership programme
to its portfolio
UKeU, the UK government-backed company set up to provide
online courses from UK universities to students and organisations
worldwide today announces an addition to its growing portfolio
of courses, a programme on leadership produced by the Centre
for Management and Policy Studies on behalf of the Cabinet
Office, in partnership with Epic Group plc and iMPOWER plc.
PRIME: Leadership is a programme created specifically to
develop the leadership capabilities of senior government officials
and public sector managers. Using content developed by Lancaster
University Management School, the programme will help senior
managers develop the ability to think in a strategic way;
define and re-examine the views and leadership practices they
may have adopted over time; be informed about a range of leadership
theories; and enhance the skills participants need to lead
and inspire people.
The programme will be available on UKeU's Learning Environment
from July to students outside the UK.
John Beaumont, Chief Executive Officer of UKeU said,
"We are delighted to be marketing this exciting online programme
overseas. Leadership is a key skill in today's workplace and
high-quality programmes in this subject are much in demand.
PRIME: Leadership has already been immensely successful in
the UK, both in central and local government, and we are very
excited about taking this programme to our key markets overseas."
Dr Miguel Godfrey, Head of Organisational Learning at the Cabinet
Office said "PRIME: Leadership offers an important development
tool both for those taking on leadership roles for the first time
and as a means of refreshing the knowledge and skills of established
leaders. The laptop leadership learning element of the suite of
corporate programmes, PRIME Leadership is already being used to
train top level managers in over 20 Departments within the UK's
Civil Service. Experience shows that the programme works best when
linked directly and explicitly into change programmes or wider management
development schemes. The Department for Education and Skills has
successfully used PRIME as a key resource in their management and
leadership programme."
