National Learning Network ILT Materials

The problem

The National Learning Network aims to provide high quality, web-based learning material for UK post-16 education and training. The material - which ranges across 10 curriculum areas - will be used independently by the learner as well as under the direction of class tutors.

The solution

Epic produced stand-alone learning materials for the NLN in Business Studies, Health Studies and Generic Science. Materials had to conform not only to IITT guidelines, but also to the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and IEEE learning technology standards and emerging IMS technical specifications.

Quotes from usability trials conducted among both students and lecturers: 'Much better than a text book'; 'Refreshing and easy to use'; 'I hadn't realised that I had just spent 25 minutes doing this - usually I find law boring!'; '...Virtually fantabulous!'
