Motivation in e-learning
Can't Learn? Won't Learn!
Surveys reveal a serious lack of motivation to learn among
UK adults. According to the UK National Adult Learning Survey
(NALS) in 1997:
- 24% had undertaken no formal learning in three years
- 50% who had done no learning in the last ten years said
that nothing would encourage them to learn
- 49% who had enjoyed full-time education nevertheless said
that nothing would now encourage them to learn
If the ideal of lifelong learning is to be achieved, clearly
this problem of motivation has to be addressed.
