Registration
Member log-in - Arena can be password protected to facilitate
a secure community atmosphere and allow the exchange of confidential
or commercially sensitive information.
Member database - Learners have the facility to edit their online
profile, search a database of other community members and send messages
to members listed, either individually or as a group.
Who's logged on? - Clicking on an icon in the navigation bar allows
access to other learners' profiles, instant messaging, one-click
email and other functionality. Learners also have access to log-in
history.

Learning content
Web publishing - Arena opens a powerful communications channel,
allowing posting of news and articles, with images. Arena's web
publishing interface enables routine posting and updating to be
done by staff without advanced computer skills - and also supports
automated publishing/archiving based on publish/expiry date.
Learning resource library - Users may browse and download from
a library of e-learning materials or other knowledge resources.
A wide range of formats are supported, including Word, PDF, PowerPoint,
jpegs etc.

Collaboration
Messaging - Learners can send and receive messages individually
or to a group. They can choose to send messages internally (within
Arena) or externally (to the member's registered email address).
Discussion forums - For threaded discussion of particular topics.
Learners can start new topics ('threads') or reply to messages posted
on an existing topic. Sub-community-specific topics are also possible.
Instant polling - Consult the views of the whole learning community
on specific issues with this online polling facility, which allows
instant feedback on questions put to the member base.

Communication
Expert advice - A simple facility allows users to ask questions
of a designated expert or online mentor, by selecting from a list
of pre-determined questions or through free-text input.
Email alerts and newsletter support - Arena provides an automatic
email facility to help market the learning initaive, sending out
alerts when new articles or content are published, for instance
- or sending out reminders to infrequent users.

Learner management
For the learner - Arena can launch e-learning, provide information
about workshops and other blended components of a programme and
allow learners to track their own progress and scores.
For the organisation - Arena provides creation and management
of learner accounts and easy-to-use management reporting.
