Cally's Epic Endeavour

In August, Cally Burgess, one of Epic’s project managers, is cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise money for the Rockinghorse charity.

Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity that has been helping sick children in Sussex and Surrey since 1968. Many of the children that the charity supports have complex disabilities, health issues or short life expectancies. In fact, thanks to the charity, Brighton was one of the first places in the country to benefit from a special ventilator, designed to provide breathing assistance for premature and tiny babies.

On the ride, Cally (seen in the photograph, 2nd from the left) and her friends will cycle just over 1000 miles over 15 days, with only 3 rest days scheduled in. She hopes to raise over £2,500 for Rockinghorse, and Epic is proud to be supporting her.

Cally comments: ‘Despite being nervous, I’m really looking forward to the challenge. How many people really see the UK properly? I can sit in a car and read and not notice the world around me, but this way we should see so much. If we see a sign post for a castle off down some little side road we can take a detour and go exploring.  Doing it for charity will be the thing that will gives us an extra push each day, especially when we’re on a hilly stretch!’
