During November, male staff at Epic are sprouting moustaches to raise money for prostate cancer charity the Movember Foundation.

The Movember Foundation is a charitable organisation which runs the annual men’s health initiative Movember across the globe. The initiative aims to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, the most common cancer found in men.

The idea is simple: on 1st November all staff involved come to work clean-shaven and then gradually grow moustaches over the course of the month. By the end of ‘Movember’ they will each be sporting a handsome ‘tash’.

Female staff at Epic are also being encouraged to get involved by wearing a fake moustache and becoming a ‘Mo Sista’.

Event organiser and digital designer at Epic, Ben Catchpole comments:
“I set up the team online and started to pester a select group of hairy-faced men to join me.

We’re currently on £395 (thanks to a very generous contribution from Epic) and it’s only the beginning of November. Our goal is to raise over £100 each and hopefully hit £1000.

On a personal level, the charity means a lot to me as I lost my grandfather to prostate cancer and, more recently, my father was also diagnosed with the disease. But, thanks to an early diagnosis and good care, my father is now in remission, and it’s comforting to know that more than three-quarters of men diagnosed with prostate cancer now survive their disease beyond five years.

This is, I feel, a very worthy cause and I’m glad that Epic are supporting it.”

The money raised from Movember will go towards research, campaigning, support and awareness of the cancer. If you’d like to ‘grow a mo and help a bro’ then visit the Movember Foundation’s website for more information. Alternatively, you can donate directly to the Epic Movember team.
