Epic launches NHS mobile learning apps

Epic is delighted to announce the release of our latest mobile learning apps, produced on behalf of the NHS and downloadable for free.
NHS South Central SHA commissioned the apps to provide more flexible and portable learning opportunities for healthcare staff, particularly those in community settings, away from desktop computers. Mobile apps also reinforce the notion of ‘dead time’ learning, allowing medical professionals to study when waiting for a clinic to begin or an emergency call.
The Department of Health expects significant progress to be made in the use of mobile technologies to improve the quality and productivity of patient care. The availability and ownership of mobile and wireless devices is increasing, whilst their costs are decreasing. All these trends point to the potential for mobile learning in the NHS.
Epic’s Head of Mobile Learning, Marcus Boyes, comments, “I’m really proud of the work my team has done on this project, particularly because we were able to deliver two apps in just six weeks. In 2011 we’ve seen so much interest in mobile learning, and Epic are really pleased to have the skills and experience to meet the demand.”
