Epic sponsors LBG Sports Challenge

After months of mental and physical preparation for the LBG teams, the Intelligent Sport UK Challenge event finally got underway in Aviemore, Scotland, on 16th June 2010, and Epic were proud to sponsor LBG’s team of “veterans”.

The UK Challenge is a unique 3 day, 4 night team experience, set in the Highlands of Scotland. Participants compete alongside up to 120 other top corporate teams in a multi-sport, multi-skill, adrenaline-fuelled adventure raising funds for the NSPCC.

The LBG veteran team consisted of colleagues from IT, Finance, Project Management, Sales and Procurement. In fact, it was Epic’s involvement with LBG’s Group Procurement which triggered their support and sponsorship of the team.

A strong team motivator was Epic’s Account Manager, Carys Rowan, who provided words of encouragement in the months leading up to the event. Just when team enthusiasm was flagging, Carys would ping a motivating email to jolt some of the team members into action - and this actually worked!

The LBG teams were delighted to raise an incredible £185,000, with one of their teams also winning the individual team competition by raising £29,000.

You never know, maybe Epic will enter their own team next year and demonstrate what real performance improvement is all about. I’d like to nominate Carys Rowan as Epic’s first UK Challenge team captain. Now there’s a challenge!”
