HarperCollins launch Epic’s GCSE revision apps on iTunes

HarperCollins, the leading educational publishers, have launched a set of GCSE maths revision apps, produced by Epic and available through Apple iTunes.
In 2010, approximately 750,000 students sat the maths GCSE, and given the prevalence of the iPod touch among young people, this makes Apple an ideal platform for delivering revision apps.
A total of four apps have been produced covering: Number, Statistics, Algebra and Geometry. Each one includes revision cards, practice questions and supporting video clips that provide explanation through ‘visual hooks’ and offer learning on the move, allowing users to revise any time and anywhere.
Epic’s Head of Mobile Learning, Marcus Boyes, comments, “We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done with HarperCollins. Feedback from trials with teenagers and maths teachers has been incredibly encouraging.”
Gary Edwards, KS4 Lead for Maths at Ratton School, took part in the initial trials and comments, “Even for a technophobe, I found the apps easy to use and I think pupils will really engage with the software.”
The apps are destined to revolutionise the way students revise mathematics, and Epic are delighted to have established themselves as the frontrunners in mobile learning development.
