Towards Maturity Benchmark 2010

Towards Maturity has released a range of preliminary findings from their 2010 Benchmark report along with an outline of additional areas explored in the final report.
The full report, due to be published in November 2010, looks at trends in the use of learning technologies in the workplace and is based contributions from over 400 participants from across the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.
The benchmark is aimed at those responsible for implementing learning technologies at work who are under pressure to deliver more with less and want to:
• Increase e-learning adoption and effectiveness
• Accelerate change
• Improve business engagement
• Deliver better results and improve efficiency
Preliminary findings include:
• The recession has had a positive influence on the use of learning technologies for most organisations, but 1 in 5 also found that their plans had been curtailed
• The appetite for learning technologies has increased significantly in the last 18 months, with a considerable increase in demand for more access (at less cost), improved compliance, and better support of the rollout of new products, processes, IT systems and change
• Technology tools and options continue to expand, but we’re not yet taking advantage of the full range of options available
• Very few organisations are planning to decrease their use of current learning technologies
• Social media is expected to be the biggest growth area
• More organisations are embedding technology in more skills programmes than in 2009, with health & safety, leadership & management and foreign language skills showing the biggest changes
• In terms of working with external providers for skills programmes, over 80% of organisations say that innovative use of learning technology will be a deciding factor in their selection of an external learning provider
• 50% of organisations allow access to social media in the workplace but only 11% of organisations are proactively harnessing them for learning
The full report will be available from the 25th November.
